V/A - Nova Natura 2: The greek label Cosmic Leaf records is out with the second chapter of the Nova natura 2 Series. The Compilation has turned out pretty darn well, and a coupple of the track are f*cking awsome. With this I'm especially refering to the amazing track by Not drowning, waving thats been remixed by Arcane trickster. Other names involved are Side Liner, D. Batistatos, Zero Cult and much more. Bottom line: A few amazing tracks, alot of good ones and just a couple of slip-ups. Read the full review here

This time it's a compilation put together by DJ Gaspard, and as usual when peak aren't chilling we moe in night-time trance-dance terretory with a highly psychedelic edge. The quality of the disc is overall good with a couplle of insanely good tracks, a few very sweet ones and just a coupple I'm not liking so much. Xerxes - The mirror formula: Last year Xerxes released his debut album, an MP3-only collection of pretty nice tracks. Now Cardamar music has released a very limited edition hardcopy of the album. The entire thing has been remastered, and there is an additional bonus-track there as well. It's now actually become quite a little pearl of an album...I won't write a another full review of it, but I can warmly recomend it to anyone. I hear it's allmost selling out, so you should grab a copy while youstill can.

Softer Israeli sounds

Capsula created quite a buzz earlier this year with the release of the amazing "world of information" and "Crown ethers" on Ajana Records compilation A magical Journey. In just a few days his debut album "Synthesis of reality" will be released on the the same label. Psychedelic Mustache got in touch with capsula to find out how things are going so close to the release..

Mustache: Alright! For those who doesn't already know, who are you?

Capsula: I'm Yosi Shamay aka Capsula, 27 years old from Israel. Capsula is a psy-chill/ambient project i started just a little bit more than a year ago. Since then i released 3 tracks under that name: 1 with Peak records and 2 with Ajana records.

Mustache: Your debut album, " A Synthesis of reality" is just about to be released on Ajana Records. How do you feel about that?

Capsula: I am very excited and happy! It was allways a dream for me to release a full length album. Since I started producing electronic music almost ten years ago I had a lot of changes in different styles and generes. Only with psychedelic chill I felt I wanted to take it to the next level and actually create something whole. Its' this kind of music that allowsws you to go wild and express every aspect of yourself.

Mustache: And how would you describe the album?

Capsula: It is definitely psychedelic with a lot of trance influenced sounds. The twisted soundelements are a feature of every track. It is not passive lounge chill, it is trippy, sometime weird but always with a connecting theme. I like voice samples and I used it on most tracks. Each track is connected with a subject that interests me: Dreams, The mind & consciousness , The Ego, Ancient technology and more.

Mustache: What would you say are your main musical influences, and what music do you listen to your self?

Capsula: Of course from the psy chill scene Shpongle(and most of Simon P projects) , Ott, Violet Vision. Also I like to listen to the Ozrics, Pink Floydyd, The Doors, Yes , Doves , Pearl Jam, Parasense, Alien project, Double Dragon, A.P.E!!, Enthogenic, Abakus, and many many more..

Mustache: What else inspires you to write music like this?

Capsula: I have to say that festivals and bush parties give me the most inspiration. After a good one i can spend days producing. But also a lot of books, movies, people, Science, weed and generally everything that it is interesting and make you think deeply about our reality and its hidden properties.

Mustache: Your music is brilliant for homelistening! Do you perform live as well?

Capsula: Not yet , but I'm working on it!

Mustache: And when you eventually do that, how will you present your material?

Capsula: When i will present it, it will be a combination of my psy chill music and psy trance.

Mustache: You are currently working with Ajana Records. How did you get in touch with them, and how are they to work with?

Capsula: Basicly through the internet. After releasing with Peak i saw on the net that Trishula created a sub label for chill called Ajana and that they were looking for artists. I got in touch and sent them some demo's and before you know it they wanted two tracks for a compilation and a contract on a full album!

They are very open minded and trusting and that's the coolest thing about them, the freedom to do what ever you think is good starting from the music and into the cover graphics. Thank you mouka and rudra!

Mustache: So now we know a bit about Capsula. Are you involved with any other projects?

Capsula: In the winter hopfully I will team up with another israeli artist called Radius, he helped me with some of the sounds for the album and we want to push more into the psy realm even more twisted than on the album. We still dont have a name but we have one track almost finished. Me and Kukan-dub-lagan might do something together as well.

Mustache: So appart from this, what are your future plans musically?

Capsula: The next release should be for the freeze magazine that Kukan is compiling. Other plans are to perform live, release more tracks on compilations as Capsula, work with different artists and learn from them, and when the time is right start working with a second album.

Mustache: Is it possible for you to make a living out of music?

Capsula: With any kind of music its very hard and with electronic it's almost impossible to make a living out of it..

Mustache: So what do you do when your not a musician?

Capsula: I just finished a degree in chemistry and biophysics which i was very interested in and learn alot from it. During that time I was a Youth instructor in a special project for teenagers at risk for 3 years and I'm checking options for doing my masters in chemistry or work in the pharma industry as a chemist. Right now i was traveling central america for a few months. I'm in the US for a few weeks and then head back to israel to work on my music.

Mustache: So, as a musician, where do you stand in the whole mp3-debate? Is copying killing music?

Capsula: No I dont think it is killing music , people who make music do it because they love to and not because of the money. And if people really like the stuff i hope that they will contribute and buy it, thats why you have samples on the net.

Mustache: Finally I'd like to ask you a rather political question, feel free to answere this in any way that you'd like. Where do you think the world is heading, and what should be done about it?

Capsula: Well i think that this time in the world is the most exciting in human history and i think things will get rather interesting. I an optimistic person and i belive that allthough most (if not all) goverments are currupted from over power and mischif the general population of the world will gain more knowledge and information which i belive is the most important thing in today's socity. Ignorance is the biggest problem and what cause most of fear. Using the internet and the fast speeding growth of science can make information much more accesible and cheap. In any case in 2012 the time wave of our big cycle will be over and the human race will transorm itself into light beings entering another dimension and a new cycle will begin. Another possibility is that a the same kind of meteor that hit the Yucatan and cause the extinction of the Dinos will come back someday making us regret that we didn't build spaceships and colonized mars.

Mustache: Any last thoughts you'd like to add?

Capsula: The best way to experience this album is in a dark room with vitamins. Have fun!

Album review: The Melovskys - Psychedelic Cowboy

The Melovskys - Psychedelic Cowboy

Now this is interesting in many ways. First of all, it's the debut album of the Mexican act The Melovskys. Second, this is the first effort of the new Tip World sublabel Tip New World. Collectors item, anyone? These two facts alone however does not justify purchasing a CD. What does however is the fact that this album strikes(atleast me) as a bolt of lightening from a clear blue sky. Or just a plain old good album. From Tip.

Whenever Tip releases an album these days there is allays a fair dose of skepticism involved on my behalf. Most of the stuff they've been putting out for the last couple of years has been in the department of mindless full-on crap, and then this thingey comes along. Tip NEW world. So what's new about it?

Are we up for another 80 minutes of Killaargh!!!!!111onenone full-on?? The answer here is a definite "NO!", as this is a suprisingly alternative release. Sure, a lot of people will bitch about the vocals. People will bitch about the guitars and the analogue elements as well. Some will even smile while they utter the word "cheeese" at some points. But I wont. The truth is that this piece of plastic is more psychedelic than most stuff around these days! I will do nothing but praise this for being a fresh, new, alternative sounding act as well as an excellent debut album. Brave is the word I'm looking for. And yes, it's actually released on tip!(Sorry for repeating my self, but I just can't get over it..).With a few exceptions the tracks are varied, filled with interesting breaks and turns, and with quite a few very original ideas and solutions. It seems to gather inspiration from all sorts of places, and if your heart has a soft spot for rock'n roll as well as trance I think you should flip open that wallet and get your Visa ready! Add a splash of comedy and the best psychedelic country-track since Pistolero and you know what your heading towards. If your favorite album so far this year was released on tip - then do yourself a favor and don't get this one. If your interested in hearing something pretty damn different, though, then do not hesitate!

Damn! They've done it again! Sundance is out with another album, this time it's the third album in the Vibraspirit series. Brace yourselves - quality music ahead at full speed! When you listen to a sundance release you know what to excpect, and that is the unexpected. Here they treat us to a compilation packed with quality psychedelic trance, all from virtually unknown artists. The sound is unmistakably Sundance. Melodic and twisted all the way through, and the artists doesn't seem to be afraid to use voice samples. This is perhaps best illustrated in the track "rough sex" by Decibel - an amazing track by all means, but don't use this track as an example if you want to educate your grandparents about your taste in music. Another favorite is the utterly melodic "Head Poppers" by Silent Scream. Most of the tracks here are very nice, very danceable. Variation in style is also very much present on this compilation. I suppose you can justify calling this full-on, but then again I guess you probably don't want to do that, that's just not fair towards the music here.

If I am to point out something I would change it would perhaps have to be the Syzmix track Brain Activity(Bioneic Empire Remix) which I don't think lives up to the standards present in the rest of the album. All in all this is a pretty damn good compilation of tracks. Sundance once again shows of their talent, leaving the rest behind. Hats off!

Mexico... The land of tequila, señoritas and tacos. Thats not all, though - it's also the home of one of the more interesting projects to hit the psychedelic scene lately, The Melovskys. With the fresh debut "psychedelic cowboy" out on Tip New World, Psychedelic Mustache decided to get in touch with Rodrigo Baills, better known as Dr. Panic to see how things were going..

Mustache: First off for those who don't know, who are the Melovskys ?

Dr. Panic: Melovskys at the moment is only me (Rodrigo Baills aka. Dr. Panic). In thebegining the project was founded by Paolo Marcellini and I, we released the first track called "Purple Haze" on Tip, and Paolo left the project 'cause he thought that trance was not his thing. So a long time friend of mine, Emilio Hernendez aka. Eggon joined me, and we released several tracks on Maia, Sirius, Ap and Tip. Unfortunately Eggon after we finish the album, left the project for the same reasons as Paolo, but they will work with me as colaborators in the future.

Mustache: You have just released your debut album. How does that make you feel?

Dr. Panic: I feel great, very enthusiastic about it, we spend a lot of time doing the album so I hope people enjoy it as we did.

Mustache: And how would you describe the album?

Dr. Panic: A experimental psy trance journey.......a mixture between trance and lots ofdiferent music styles.

Mustache: What are your main musical influences, and what inspires you the most as a musician?

Dr Panic: My main musical influences are not trance. I will say Jimi Hendrix, JeffBeck, The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Robert Johnson, MilesDavis, John Coltrane, Budy Guy, BB King, Issac Hayes, Stevie Wonder, JamesBrown, Chuck Berry, Massive Attack, Tricky and Unkle. In trance it would be JunoReactor and Slinky Wizard.

What inspires me as a musician is to always have fresh ears all the time, to hear diferent kind of styles .........New and old music, try to evolve as a musician, music is always changing by new people, new ideas ..........that's wonderful about it, and that's the important thing for me, drives me to keep doing what i do.

Mustache: Your album has a lot of analog instruments and vocals. How do you work when you produce music?

Dr. Panic: Sometimes I start with a kick and basslines and then the analog instruments, in other cases......... I start backwards. It depends on the idea, but what we did with this album was to give certain time to the tracks, to see what it needed on it... So we did a rhythmic base, some analog instruments, and then we left it for a couple of days. In the meantime we started with another track, and so on.......Takes a bit when you record live intruments......also we tried to make our own loops, and not grab any librarysamplers...i sang in some tracks, did background vocals, but I'm not a singer.....so it took me some time to make it right.

Mustache: How do you reproduce your sound when playing live?

Dr.Panic: It's almost imposible to do the studio work live 100%, but I try to put thel ive into 4 tracks and mixed with live synth sounds, along with some samplers.

In the future I think i'll do the live acts with the colaborators that I work with, plus some new ones that I'm working at the moment will be a rotation of colaborators and I think it will be interesting to have diferent people doing live acts.

Mustache: How is working with Tip World, and how does it feel to be trusted the task of releasing the first album on their new label?

Dr. Panic: Working with Tip is really cool, very relaxed and they're always open to new sounds and ideas.

Releasing in the new label - for me it's amazing, I'm really happy about it, I hope people won't be dissapointed at the album, and hope they enjoy it, it was a lot of work....... heart and soul.

Mustache: What are your future plans for the Melovskys?

Dr. Panic: I'm doing new melovskys tracks, also producing as Melovskys 2 Ep's , one is Melovskys vs E-7, wich is an experimental colaboration with a great musicianfrom Cuba, it's not going to be trance , but will be interesting.....The other project is an Ep from a sideproject I got with 3 jazz players called Space Funghi, which is a lounge/drum'n bass/ambient projectwith psychedelic sounds..... The space funghi album will be released on Sirius Records(Japan) by the end of this year.... Also I'm doing a project as Dr.Panic

Mustache: What are your interests beside music? What is important in your life?

Dr. Panic: I'm 100% in this thing......you know, actually my way of living is touringand playing the guitar with lots of bands....... rock and pop singers, when I'm not in the studio I'm touring. I've been playing guitar since 15 years ago and i love it.

What is important in my life is to enjoy and have a good time in everything that I do.

Mustache: Last a rather political question. Feel free to answere in any way that pleases you. Where do you think the world is heading, and what do you think should be done about it?

Dr. Panic: I don't want to talk about these 3 things: politics, soccer and religion. But what I see the world is heading to chaos....I guess.

Bringing back the old days: Meet Rob Henry from Children of the Bong

Imagine you are back in 1995. A decade ago. Ten years. The air is cleaner, your health is better, you feel younger, stronger and pretty damn great! There's chocolate milk in the refridgerator - and children of the bong is playing on your stereo.

Today we take a trip down memory lane here at Psychedelic Mustache. Can you believe it's been ten years since Children of The Bong released their mammoth of an album, "Sirius Sounds"? Well, neither can we, but it has. Let's just face it: we're getting old, and it's happening bloody fast. Psychedelic Mustache got in touch with Rob Henry, one of the two Bongchildren. In this interview, the first in a series of interviews with musical pioneers of the 90's he speaks about past, present and future of his musical adventures.

Psychedelic Mustache: First of all, how are you doing?

Rob Henry: Good! Today I’ve taught 15 guys how to use a mixing desk, completed a mix for the new Neech album and just put my son to bed and finally have 5 minutes spare to talk to you guys.....!

Psychedelic Mustache: Now for a few questions on children of the bong.
You and Daniel Goganian started “children of the bong” when you were quite young. What were your main musical influences in those days?

Rob Henry: A whole mixture of stuff, from early hip-hop and electro (BDP, Stetsasonic) to prog rock (floyd, Ozrics) to Modern ambient and techno (the Orb, Aphex Twin) and huge slabs of Funk! Oh and quite a lot of Dub too…Each style is probably subconsciously represented in everything we did!

Psychedelic Mustache: How did you get in touch with Planet Dog, and how was it to be part of the label?

Rob Henry: The story is that we did a gig in Birmingham supporting Banco de Gaia and he approached us to do a small UK tour with him. He was already signed to Planet Dog and Mike Dog came to see us play. He liked the vibe and the demo tape so much, he signed us up! It was a great time for our style and planet dog were definitely the best guys for the job, they completely understood where we were coming from and gave us loads of support. The tours with Megadog were a great experience too.

Psychedelic Mustache: Rumor has it that you made you album “Sirius Sounds” on Banco de Gaias equipment. Is there any truth to this?

Rob Henry: Most of the album was written with a sampler some old analogue keyboards and an Atari, but to really put the sparkle in it we needed some better equipment. We were working with Andy Guthrie who did some production for Banco de gaia and he happened to know that Toby was on holiday (I think) when we scheduled to record it. So on the way to the Black Mountains in Wales, we crammed as much of his kit in to our Transit as possible. We also had Derek, our mate and Chef (very handy) and all his bits. There’s a great photo of the back of the van almost touching the road – probably quite illegal but not for the first time!

Psychedelic Mustache: Do you still keep in touch with any of the other Planet Dog artists?

Rob Henry: Unfortunately I don’t, I used to keep bumping in to Toby from Banco de Gaia at various festivals, but after the birth of my son, I took some time out, maybe I should get in touch…

Psychedelic Mustache: You were known to be fantastic live act. Can you pinpoint the best experience you had while performing live with Children of the bong?

Rob Henry: Probably at Reitschule, this kind of commune venue in Bern, Switzerland while on tour with Banco de Gaia. The place was packed, we rocked…hard! and our DJ played Ween’s ‘Spinal meningitis gets me down’ and the place went mad! My kind of gig!

Psychedelic Mustache: How did you experience the scene in those days? Were there a lot of sex, drugs and psychedelic music?

Rob Henry: We went to all the free parties that sprang up everywhere from an early age. When you’re 18, signed and taken on a bit of a psychedelic whirlwind ride, things definitely happen! We were certainly a lot more innocent in those days and kind of went with wherever it would take us, never really thinking that it wasn’t normal

Psychedelic Mustache: Now back to your studio work. Were there plans for making more music under the Cotb name?

Rob Henry: After Sirius Sounds was released and all the gigs and tours slowed down, we went back to the studio to record some tracks for a TV programme called Hotel Babylon (a pretty dire Channel 4 effort that is probably best known for launching the Spice Girls’ careers!) and work on new material for the next album.

Psychedelic Mustache: At what time did you actually stop working together, and why?

Rob Henry: I think it was around the same time that we realised that we weren’t so innocent any more and the music we wanted to make wasn’t the same. When we worked together, we kinda lost the vibe we used to have - bouncing ideas of eachother and stuff. I had started working on this epic drum and bass thing with the DJ who used to play live with us and I think Dan was a bit put out by that. So we did our final gig at Brixton Academy, split the kit and went our separate ways.

Psychedelic Mustache: Have you guys worked together under other names since cotb, and is there any chance you’ll work together again?

Rob Henry: We would meet up occasionally and jam together; ironically the thing we both got into after we split was playing the drums! But nothing came out of it and we haven’t spoken in about 6-7 years….shame really!

Psychedelic Mustache: Now a few questions about what you are doing these days. You’ve formed a band called Euphonic. Who is/was involved in that and are you still active?

Rob Henry: Euphonic was the band I formed with the DJ from COTB (Nick Trimm). We had a studio in Hackney and pretty much lived in it for a long time working on various styles of music. We also met up with Soothsayer and Dr. Israel from New York who flew us out there to work with them and we ended up using the tracks on our album too!

Psychedelic Mustache: How would you describe this project?

Rob Henry: It was darker than COTB and much more breakbeat orientated. I really enjoyed making it and musically most of it still sounds fresh today. We were signed to Rockers Hi-Fi’s label, Different Drummer and after some excellent reviews and publicity when the album came out, we put together an 8 piece band to recreate it live and toured Europe with it.

Psychedelic Mustache: Are there any releases coming up in the near future with this project?

Rob Henry: Unfortunately Nick had some personal issues he had to deal with, so nothing with Euphonic

Psychedelic Mustache: Are you involved in any other projects that you think we might have an interest in?

Rob Henry: Euphonic turned into Euphonic productions where I have been working with various singers. Neech is the main project I’m involved with at the moment with Zeb, one of the singers we toured with in Euphonic. We’re just in the process of putting a label together to release the album. It’s a dark and soulful affair and musically a bit off the wall, but Zeb’s vocals are so sweet that the contrast is perfect. Psychedelic Mustache: Finally a rather political question. Feel free to answer this in any way you'd like. Where do you think the world is heading, and what should be done about it?

Rob Henry: I’m a bit of a fatalist and think that a lot of the shit that’s happening is for a reason, although I’m sure we’ve accelerated the process with unsound ecological practices and bullshit wars. It’s hard not to be hopeful for the future when you have children of your own and I’ve got a feeling that his generation will be the ones who will turn it around a bit, so teach them well because they won’t be learning it in schools!

Psychedelic Mustache: Any last words?

Rob Henry: With the advent of fast computers and cheap software that can do incredible things everyone can make music -and does! The music scene is saturated but try and listen out for those pushing the boundaries and adding a bit of originality in to the pot……go on, checkout my website!!!!

Album review: J. Viewz - Muse Breaks

J. Viewz - Muse Breaks

This review is a bit late, and might seem outdated. However, this album has received far too little attention, and I find it justified to review it here even though it has been out since April. J. Vievz, or Jonathan Dagan is half of the Israeli electronic experimental duo Violet Vision. Here we get his debut soloalbum, a more organic experience than we're used to from Violet vision.

The album is certainly a very string one, and it's mood varies from the warm, soulful and jazzy opening of "under the sun", to the more spacey realms of drum 'n bass on the title track "muse breaks". As mentioned the album has a very organic feeling, and though it's main elements are electronic the album is also packed with excellent piano, trumpets, saxophones and last but not least great appearances from guest vocalists.

Jonathan Dagan proves that he's a great musician, capable of interpreting a great variation of different genres in his own way - something that is truly special in our scene these days. If you haven't already bought this - then go do so now!

Final verdict: 8/10

Concert review: Seigmen, 20.10.2005

Expectations were sky-high as the legendary norwegian rock-band "Seigmen" entered the stage for the first time in almost 7 years. The hardcore rockers Jr.Eving did a decent job in warming up the crowd, but offcourse they could play nothing but the second violin on a night like this. The second they left the stage, the crowd exploded as the bass of "ohm" startet to build accompanied by a twisted black and white movie on a huge screen. Then the drums kicked in. Then a guitar. Then silence, as seigmens logo appeard where the movie was playing. A second later the screen dropped, and the band was on stage in all its glory. From the second Alex Møklebust opened his mouth to the last tone of "Hjernen er alene" two hours and fifteen minutes later he had the audience in a firm grip, never letting go.

The intensity was there, the greatest tracks were there, and yes - the magic was definently there. We were even treated to some of the more experimental and electronic offerings from their latest albums, all coupled with hits from throughout their career. After the show one had a feeling of having experienced something extraordinary, a momentary halt in time, a blissfull moment. And no, this wasn't all nostalgia, eve though I think that had a great deal to do with it.

Lets just hope that the guys now take to their senses and start playing together again! An album, or even just a tour would be a dream come true!

Final score: 9/10

Album review: Michele Adamson - Fallen Angel

Michele Adamson has become quite a star with in the realms of psychedelic electronica, doing collaborations with quite a few of the scenes biggest stars. On her debut soloalbum she works with different producers and the result is a varied(Both musically and in quality) album.

The opening track of the album is made by a guy calling him self Mad. The track is quite boring, nothing special here. The type of track you wouldn't notice if it was played in an elevator. Luckily the entire album isn't as bad as this start. The track "Stranded" written by j.viewz is a quality piece of organic electronica, and also one of the tracks where Micheles voice works out pretty good. There are also other really good pieces of music in here, like the beautiful "flutterby" from Doof.

Lyrically Michele Adamson has quite a way to go - she's no psychedelic replica of PJ Harvey or Tori Amos, and her usage of clichés is definently worthy of some critique. All in all, this album isn't as bad as I might make it sound here. There are three or four gems here, but all in all the album is too varied in terms of quality, and half of the tracks are like average yawns. Still - it will definitely be interesting to follow her in the future, and I give her over the average score because the really good tracks here are really good!

Album review: Voice of Cod - We are Free

Voice of Cod is a very interesting project. It consists of Collin Bennun, best known through OOOD and the legendary unconscious Collective. The other member is Andrey Humphries, better known as Mr. Biscuit. Here the boys treat us to a marvelous journey with elements of progressive and full-on as well as some oldschool madness.

The album starts brilliantly, and the first two tracks is pure bliss. This stuff is insanely groovy, and when they start distorting the samples and blasting the 303 on "the unknowns" you know you don''t want to stop dancing. The album continues along similar paths, and it never gets boring. The production is air-tight and as fresh as anything. We're treated to lots of atmospheric sound and groove is like that rabbit in the duracell commercial - it never stops! Melody is also an ingredient that plays a huge part here, but don't worry - this is never close to smelling of cheese. We also get a remix of last years "It's just a ride", by the for me unknown Zouloop. It doesn't really make the track any better, and hence it is for me an unnecessary mix.

All in all this is a pretty damn good album, certainly worthy of a listen and a purchase.

Ep review: Infected Mushroom - Stretched

Infected Mushroom: Stretched

Infected Mushroom has been one of, if not the most succesful act to spring out of the psychedelic trance scene. Lately, though, their releases have been lacking in terms of quality. Don't get me wrong - I am not one of those people who simply bash them for not being "psychedelic enough" anymore. I feel however that the things that has worked out best for them lately is the more break-oriented chill(ish) attempts, like the ones we got on The other side of converting vegetarians. Now, let's see what this ep has to offer.

First of is the Mayumana remake of shakawkaw. This is a live recording, and I think it worked out rather well. First of all it captures the live-feeling. I was fortunate enough to catch Infected Live my self a coupple of months back, and I have to say - as an entertainment act - they really do their stuff great! The second track is taken from the album I'm the supervisor, and this is the ep's title-track stretced. I'm pleased that they chose this track to be a single, as it's one of the few that actually works quite well on that album. Not at all trance, moving more in the footsteps of the allready mentioned other side of converting vegetarians. Next is a good remix of Time lock of the awfull track "cities of the future". Nothing to blolw your mind away, but at least listenable. The last track "the beauty and the beat" is not really new - as it has been available as a free download for ages at infected's homepage. It's an average trance-track, not really anything to write home about.

All in all this is a decent offering from infected

Warning: this is NOT in any way connected to psytrance. Narrowminded people: move along, please! This Thursday the legendary Norwegian rockband "Seigmen" will play together before a live audience for the first time in over six years. For those of you who don't have tickets - There is still a chance, you can buy a few more tomorrow.

Seigmen were huge on the Norwegian scene throughout the 90's, playing thundering dark rock and roll, often with a lot of industrial influences. Towards the end of their career they also experimented a great deal with electronic influences. I sincerely hope they will play songs from throughout their career and not just their biggest singalong hits. Psychedelic Mustache will return with a review of the concert some time not far into the future. Stay tuned!

So, Monday! Doesnt have to be all that bad if you have something to look forward to on tuesday..

First of all let me point out one thing. Here at psychedelic Mustache we do not normally support people like ministry of sound. When the main force behind putting out music is generating cash, something is often lost. This time around I'll make an exceptien, and tell you all to tune in to their new wave radio tomorrow(Tuesday 18. oct, 2 – 4 pm GMT ).

Appearing on the show is none other than our own psychedelic maestro Sim o n Posford. Known from various projects, most notably the legendary Hallucinogen and the Shp o ngle-project together with the nowadays less credible Raja Ram. I for one hope there will be some talking as well as music as there are numerous questions we'd like to have an answere to. What evere happened to the Hallucinogen live album? How about the album with eat statics merv pepler? Willwe have another Shpongle-effort? Ott in trance? Aah, I'd like to know, and I'll ceirtanly tune in. So should you!

Nystagmus: The Immaculate Perception

This album was released a couple of months back on the Australian label sundance. Strangely enough this album has passed rather unnoticed apart from a praising review by psyreviews.
I was a bit skeptical at first. This label has shown us before that they know how to tweak the right knobs, and the Talpa album was definitely something to remember. This is up the same alley, except it's done extremely much better!

The first track "Ananda" instantly puts you in the mood. Right away you know your in for a ride that will blow away all your fears about the future of psychedelic trance. This stuff should come with a warning: "ATTENTION: NO FORMULA MUSIC INSIDE!". After the first joyfull journey you are directly teleported in to the comedy-track of the year "Tommy is dead". The entire track is built around a sample about this kid, Tommy Forrester, who had a rather unfortunate incident happen to him while under the influence of LSD. Oh, and the son isn't just funny - It's brilliant as well. Things continue like this, one brilliant track after the other. It's hard to say which tracks are the best here, "Soulgasm" is a good candidate, but so is "weird noises", "Reality" and "never turn your back". Wow - that's merely all of them, isn't it? Once you've listened through the album you'll be a little disappointed at how short it is. I remember thinking: "What the...f**ck! Was that it? But it was sooo short!!". Next thing I know I find my self looking at the stereos display reading"total playtime: 78:33". I scratch my head and get the trigger-finger ready "..Ah, press play again, then".

All the way through this is a shifting, melodic, funny, funky, groovy, yes - damn good journey. It hasn't been around for too long yet, so I find it hard to compare this album with the likes of Infected Mushrooms The Gathering or Simons Twisted. In five years time we will see, but this is, in my humble and grateful opinion (at least one of) the best psychedelic trance albums at this side of the millennium.
